DEAR PRUDENCE ...choc chip mint for soc...

This is my take on the choc mint over at twinkly twinkle..thanks to the beautiful kristin for hosting the summer of colour...or SOC to we who play along...lol....to be honest I really don't like it at all and that's what i get for trying something different...the background is ok....it just looks sad and doesn't make me happy whatsoever....but i just showed my boys and they seemed to have thought it as great...so there you go...art is different to all who look at it...
i was going to do my usual face that i do and halfway through thought no...i'll try doing something a little different...i didn't want clean lines after all ...i used my fingers for this painting, except where i scratched the pencil onto the page to slighty define some of the features before i went crazy with the white and the glitter...you probably can't see it here...this is quite a dark piece for me to do...and i think i need to go and do a happy one now...lol...
thanks so much for all the wonderful comments from rainbow sherbet...seriously overwhelmed by your lovely words...
ok...until next time
lots of it

ps...update...painted over the scary one and created the tree art....the scrapbook page is one of my favourites of the twins and thought it appropriate to put in with this weeks prompt...

Loved all the three but the second is the best in my view... the last one I found it a bit scary at first and then I saw the veil of sadness to it...:)

It's intresting how some people have taken this weeks colours to be moody and dark and other as bright and peppy.

It's amazing what art can do and show us. It's good that you know what the art is showing you and how it's making you feel. And at least you tried something different, so that is an experience itself. I look forward in seeing what else you have in store. Have a wonderful week and happy creations your way :) x

I always love to hear about people's processes and thoughts about their painting, it adds a bit more dimension to the paintings. The girl was a bit on the melancholy side - I love that you brought something happy out of it at the end! That being said, I really liked the way you painted her. Maybe if she'd had a brighter color pallete she's have given off a different feel.

I think repurposing works is a great way to go. They do make wonderful backgrounds to build upon. Your tree turned out lovely. I really like the girl looking out from behind it.

Loving the canvas (I actually liked the face but also like the tree with the little peeking cutie). The layout is beautiful, I ADORE that photo!

Hi Mandy, Don't be afraid to try something new. My fairy I'm not done with yet is getting quite dark. I think that's why she's not done yet, lol. Your scrapbook page of the twins is spectacular! Love Dear Prudence too - both incarnations!

Dear Prudence.... I've got that song flowing round my head now... it's a brain worm ;)

I like the dark page - agree it's a bit sombre but it has real emotion to it. A clever piece.

the original face painting did have a bit of a macabre look to it. I like what you turned it into... amazing how the tone changed with so dramatically. and your journal page is sweet.

I must have seen it after the update, because I didn't think your art was dark at all. And I loved the scrapbook page, as well as the tree. So, keep it coming, please.

Someone once said' there's no such thing as a bad painting, just an unfinished one'. If you're not happy with it revisit it later with some more paint.
