Here you will find little snippets of my life and how I try and grow food, feed my family healthy foods, sew, crochet, craft, knit , art and craft, preserve food and discover how to leave less of an environmental impact. You will see some homeschooling ideas and ways of making a comfortable and fun, albeit simple, home for my family.

5 Cheese Pizza
My kids love cheese...so do I. So I created a pizza actually 2 pizzas for our family of 9 tonight, a 5 cheese pizza.
A year or two ago I bought a bread maker...I mostly use it for dough. My dough recipe is simple.
4 cups of plain flour
Pinch of salt
Pinch of sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 sachet 7g powdered yeast
60 ml oil...I used macadamia oil tonight
Pop it all in the bread maker and an hour and a half later the dough is ready. Pop it into the fridge until your ready to use it. I usually make it in the morning.
Pizza sauce
About 14 small roma tomatoes
4 cloves garlic
1 onion
Garden herbs
I used rosemary, mint and basil
Whizz all but 4 of the tomatoes with all the other ingredients in a food processor.
Heart some olive oil in a pot and pour mixture in. Cook until it boils the turn it down and simmer for a while. Chop up remainder of the tomatoes and toss the in the pot. Cook until they are tender. Turn off heat and let cool.
Roll out pizza bases with a bit of flour on the bench....and throw them up in the air to impress the kids...lol...I made 3 very large ones with this amount of dough.
I spread the sauce then added
Grated mozzarella
Grated tasty
Crumbled feta
Slice round mozzarella
And grated parmesan cheese
Pop it into a hot oven until it's cooked.
Serve with a nice green salad.
Yummo and all the family agree. A delicious vegie meal.
Definitely worth a try if you gave an idle bread maker...I have already been asked if I could make it again...
Until next time

PAINT ON MY HANDS
Yep...I miss it...I love it...
Getting paint on my hands...this is the first part of my piece for SOC...hosted by the beautiful Kristin....I will post up my finished piece with the link to her blog when I finish the piece.
I have also been busy building, with the kids, a vege patch in the backyard. Hopefully we get many years of produce from it. We want it to be organic, with organic soil and good raised garden beds. However, we did use normal seedlings. Hopefully these won't be to bad as long as we use no chemicals on them ( if they even grow!)
Hopefully my little gardens inspire you to plant something of your own.
Until next time

Lunch
Well...been a while...lots happened but no time to post...home schooling takes up much time...I'm hoping to do more regular posts...a bit more art too..
So, today will be about simple eats.
I made a frittata today...simple and quick.
Cook all of these in a large non stick frypan with a little olive oil.
Onion chopped
Carrot grated
Zucchini grated
2 handfuls of baby spinach
Cut off kernels from one corn cob
Fry until cooked
Mix 8 eggs and a splash of water.
Pour into pan and stir lightly with wooden spoon to mix egg with veges.
Grate some cheese over the top then leave on low for about 5 minutes.
Take of stove and pop under grill until it's bubbly and cooked.
Bit of cracked pepper over the top.
Delish and the kids loved it.
